We Created A Comic Book!

Create96 would like to welcome you to the first ever volume of New Haven Create A Comic Book Day. We challenged New Haven to come together at The Grove and for each and every one of us to write, pencil, ink and letter their own comic book story in just 8 hours. The book you’re about to read has just about about every style of art and story you could possibly imagine… and probably a few you couldn’t.

We have partnered with a company for those that would like to purchase a printed version of the comic book.

Create96 is hosting New Haven Create a Comic Book Day at The Grove on Saturday, December 1st from 10-6. Join us and create your own 8-page comic book in one day. We will have professional comic book artists at the event to share their techniques and help us plan our creations. This is a free event and all supplies will be provided. ArtRage iPad Art Gallery Show @ The Grove

ArtRage for iPad is coming to The Grove for a special event. We’ve selected some of the finest iPad illustrators to showcase how this device can be used as a creative tool. The event will take place on January 13th and 14 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on both days. Come and see masterful pieces of digital art and try your hand at creating some iPad Art for yourself. On April 1st (It’s no joke.) I will be having an art show in New Haven, CT to showcase my iPad artwork. The show is called Apple iPie: Slices of iPad Art. It will be through Create 96 and The Grove. I just want to say I am very grateful Jeff and Mason not only have an interest in my work but wish to help me succeed.

I absolutely love what Create 96 and The Grove stand for. The show will be from 6pm to 9pm. If you’re in the area come out and enjoy yourself. There will be food, music, art and good conversation.

I looked out our sliding glass window this morning and saw that something unique had washed up on the shore. I grabbed my camera and walked down to the water’s edge and found the most amazing tree root - it had characteristics of a living creature. Georgia and I quickly threw on our boots and ran back to save it before the tide swept it back to sea. We dragged it up out of reach from the waves where it is now drying safely in the sun. Heading back later this afternoon with some help to carry it up to the house.

Discovery in Watercolor | by Susan Strand 96-18

I decided to try painting with watercolors as I have always wanted to try it, but have been intimidated because I can’t draw. I was disappointed by my pictures, which looked like a 5-year old might have made them; but then fooled around with the paints for a while and came up with the striped effect that just cried out for a stamped image. I made several and then painted the stripes onto blank cards and now have several art cards that I can send to friends!
